IAM appliance - Administrator Guide

The IAM appliance is distributed as a VMDK virtual drive file (alternatively, in different formats). When deploying the drive into their infrastructure, the administrator creates a new virtual server, configures it at the hypervisor level and as its hard drive, they register the supplied VMDK file. After that, they boot up the virtual server and the appliance will start with its software and prepared configuration.

Basic IAM appliance properties

  • Distributed as a dynamically allocated VMDK hard drive image, or, alternatively, in VHD, Amazon Machine Image (AMI) and other formats.

  • Contains all necessary software to run the appliance.

  • After initial configuration in the organization environment, it "simply works".

    • Required configuration: network configuration, DNS and NTP configuration, and selecting the appliance components which will be used.

    • Configuration in the environment is done by using a iam-firstboot wizard.
